Winter Weather

OPERATIONS OVERVIEW
The vast majority of the Village’s streets are plowed and salted by area contractors. The Public Works Department assists in these operations by plowing, salting, and maintaining certain areas/streets during the winter season.

Please direct all questions and concerns regarding snow removal, salt application, and street maintenance to the Village’s Public Works Department at (815) 877-5432.

Snow Emergencies & Parking Regulations
The Village will declare a snow emergency when forecasted or observed weather conditions indicate a significant snow event. Parking will not be permitted on any road, highway, roadway shoulder, ditch, or any other property used, or which could be used, as a roadway within the Village during a snow emergency declaration. Violations of this ordinance shall be subject to a fine of not less than $25 and not more than $100. In addition, the vehicle constituting the violation may be removed and stored at the owner's expense.

A snow emergency will be declared by posting a press release on the Village website and social media pages. Once announced, a snow emergency remains in effect until the snow has been removed from the full width of the street or until the Public Works Director declares the snow emergency is over.
